THE
STORY
Snake and Michele struggle to withdraw from years of heroin addiction
"cold turkey". Snake nails the door and windows of their
basement apartment shut on the first day of their "kicking",
determined to come clean for good. Michele awakens to discover
the she has been betrayed by her lover, and is trapped in the
apartment. The characters become hostages of each other. As the
days of withdrawal increase, they face their demons, and the naked
truth of who they were and what they have become emerges. Reality
intensifies. Long forgotten sensations reawaken and seem to take
on a life of their own. Though they experience this rebirth, this
journey together they must essentially follow their own seemingly
preordained destinies. As Michele and Snake struggle to reach
the light of a new life, the camera becomes the third eye, allowing
us to peer into the very essence of their existence.

THE
CHARACTER
"Snake" is the philosopher, writer who has lost his
way while seeking it. Heroin has not become the source of enlightenment
he envisioned. His aspirations now as impotent as his libido he
survives from day to day as a bicycle courier and small time dealer.
He recognizes that he has become enslaved by his addiction. It
angers and frightens him to no end. He finally summons all of
his courage to face the demon head on and try to conquer it. It
is easier knowing that his lover will be going on the journey
as well whether she wants to or not. Because in the end he has
seen the light and this is the only way. It's now or never. More
intellectual then emotional he responds to the process of withdrawal
as a spiritual awakening a resurrection of sorts. Creating his
own rituals, which guide his ever-deepening spiritual journey.
Unfortunately the demon never sleeps and is infinitely patient.
Laying in wait like the coiled serpent that is eternally etched
on his body.

COMMENTS
" Working on H was one of the most creatively fulfilling
film experiences I have had. It is rare to work with such powerful
material as this script. I am grateful to Darrell Wasyk the filmmaker
for having written the role of Snake with me in mind... "
